Locate metallic pellets in meat/game prior to eating. The Savertooth detects unseen steel and lead shot in hunted game so you don't damage or break your teeth on shot!
About The Savertooth Savertooth assists in the detection of unseen steel and lead shot in hunted wild game saving your teeth from potential damage. The LED indicator illuminates and beeper sounds when the unit detects metal objects.
To Use The Savertooth Turn on the detector by rotating the thumbwheel. The red LED indicator will glow, and the beeper will sound briefly. Rotate the thumbwheel until the red LED stops glowing. Hold the detector with your hand gripping behind the thumbwheel -- moving it sideways across the sliced sections of meat until it senses metal. Remove pellet(s) from the meat. Rescan that same area thoroughly to make sure all metal has been removed from the area where metal was detected. It may be necessary to adjust the sensitivity of the detector by rotating the thumbwheel. The detector is most sensitive when adjusted by rotating the thumbwheel slightly past the position where the red LED has just stopped glowing. Clean the unit with a moist soft cloth and mild detergent, and wipe dry. Do not submerge in water or dishwasher.
Troubleshooting the Savertooth First, if the red LED does not glow and the beeper does not sound when operating the unit, or if the sensitivity is reduced, replace the battery with a new alkaline 9-volt DC battery. Second, in the unlikely event that the LED does not glow or stays on continuously, the unit can be adjusted from the inside. To make this adjustment, turn the calibration screw in either direction until the LED indicator glows or stops glowing, depending on its condition. Keep in mind this is not a comprehensive diagnostic instrument. Pinpointing the exact location of metal depends on the condition of the internal battery and adjustment of the sensitivity thumbwheel. Caution: Use extreme care with the Savertooth. This product is designed as an aid in locating hidden metallic pellets that may be lodged in wild game taken by firearms. A very thorough scan of all possible locations from a maximum of 1/4 inch depth is required to assure that the meat is absent of metal pellets.
